What are the laws pertaining to Electric Bikes?
To be used on the public highway without tax, driving licence and motor cycle crash helmet, electric bikes have to conform to the following rules.
These rules are set out in the Road Traffic Act.

Riders must be over 14 years old, (10 years old if used off the public highway).
Motor power must be less than 200 watts, (250 watts for an Electric Tricycle).
Weight must be under 40kg without rider.
Speed under power must be limited to 15mph.
